City Wide Protection Saves 3 Lives From Fentanyl Overdoses In 2022

San Diego, California, August 29, 2022 – In August, the U.S. Department of Justice recognized San Diego as the epicenter of Fentanyl trafficking. From October 2021 through June 2022, more than 5,000 pounds of fentanyl were seized around the country. Former U.S. Attorney, Bob Brewer, echoed this statement.

“San Diego is a hub for the deadly trade of fentanyl. Between 60 and 65% of all the fentanyl seized in the entire United States occurs in San Diego and Imperial counties as cartels and their associated drug trafficking organizations bring this poison into our communities. In 2021, San Diego County lost 817 individuals – victims of fatal fentanyl overdoses. We must do more, and that starts with educating our friends and family on the dangers of fentanyl in all its forms – both pills and powder.”

In April, June, and August of 2022, security officers from City Wide Protection Services provided life-saving interventions for 3 victims of fentanyl overdoses by administrating Narcan. The employees are trained on how to handle these instances that can be a life-or-death situation.

“The best leaders adapt with the times, and that is what I pride my company and my security officers on. As a result of the border crisis, we are dealing with the overflow of fentanyl” said Tom Tamar, President and CEO of City Wide Protection Services.”
